Jean and I did the Bradford Valentine's Day
race as a husband/wife team. It was a fun race--the course
was rolling, and the temps weren't too bad (although, certainly
not warm enough for some guy to be running around in shorts
and no shirt), I did the 5M, Jean did the 6K, but we didn't
win. Damn. I did set a PR in a 5M for myself, even with stopping
to tie my shoe (39:05), and it was great to be racing with
Jean! There was good food at the end, and even boxes of chocolates.
However, like Doug in his race a couple of
weeks ago, I was thwarted by some little kid. In the 5M race,
there was some little 11 year old kid that kicked my butt.
He came in almost a minute ahead of me, but the worst part
is that he only came in in third in his category.
Anyway, I checked the results of the race that Doug did last
week to see if these were the same fast kids, and sadly, it
wasn't. That means that there are more out there... more than
we can possibly know (well, there was one 14yr old from Portsmouth
NH that won both races).
