So, as you may or may not know, we've had
some rain today. That didn't stop the Lynn Woods trail runs
though, Bill had the 2.5M and 5M courses all marked and ready
to roll. Well, they were marked at one point--the rain killed
that. You definitely had an advantage if you knew the courses.
Anyway, even with the WET weather, turnout
was good, and Luna and I positioned ourselves in the appropriate
spot at the start--at the back of the pack. We got the "go"
signal, and took off running in the rain. Luna and I took
the left side and worked ourselves toward the middle before
we hit the gate. Water was flowing downhill, and we were able
to witness the same process that carved the Grand Canyon working
right before our very eyes.
I was unsure as to if we'd do the short or
long course, although once I saw a huge pack of runners stay
straight, past the turn for the short course, Luna and I made
the left. But wait--tragedy struck as Luna went one way around
a tree and I went the other! Then she got tangled in her leash!
We lost valuable time--about 30 seconds, and got passed by
someone! Once we were sorted out, we ran up the trail which
is now a waterfall, and regained the lead. Did I say "lead?"
Yeah!
Luna and I sloshed through mud and puddles,
through wash-outs and lava, through locusts and tornados,
to finish in first place.
